Also known as domotics, home automation is the remote control of electronic devices in a home. In most cases, these devices connect to the internet in a system called the Internet of Things (IoT). With such inter-connectivity, gadgets can automatically trigger themselves and each other so that one doesn’t have to control them manually. For instance, one can set the lights to switch off after they leave the house or switch on the air conditioning system just before they get to the house from work.
Among the benefits, home automation can save electricity bills and heating and cooling costs. By incorporating the Internet of Things into the framework, home automation can enhance security and safety by allowing integration with security systems such as surveillance cameras.
